This week is the last week before transfers. It will decide if
any of us are moving or staying. I hope that me and Elder Lloyd will still be
companions here in B, but it is what the Lord would have us do. Being on a
mission has really helped me to have a desire to read the scriptures more and it
seems an hour is way too short! But I love it.

This week has been exciting and also challenging. I know that
every person will have great times, hard times and also strange times
but regardless of it all, the work of the Lord continues and I am so blessed to
be a part of that and to witness everyday miracles from the Lord. Every day
allows me to build my faith. It allows me to reflect on what happened, to ask
guidance from the Lord and to then act on the promptings that I receive. This
past Saturday, I remembered the promise that the Lord said, "Open your
mouth, and it shall be filled." It is such a simple promise yet so
amazing. The Lord truly can trust us if we are willing to talk to everyone. To
invite all to come unto Christ and to learn the Restored Gospel. As I had the
opportunity to exercise my faith, I really began to notice a change in myself
and within all those we talked too. Hearts were softened, things that were
needed to be said were given to us and miracles happened. It was truly having
the Lord side by side with us and helping us accomplish what was needed to be
done. Although it may sometimes feel as though we cannot learn everything that
we need, it definitely gives each of us the appreciation of learning that
specific doctrine and applying it to future teaching appointments.
A miracle that I was able to witness was with a family that we
are working closely with right now. They are currently investigating the church
and are definitely prepared by the Lord and are continuing to come unto Christ
every day. I remember my dad asking me a few weeks ago, if I had found a family
that I loved so much, that I would try my best to help them and do all that I
can? This family is one of those and I really do feel blessed to be with them.
Their son G was sick for 2 days and had not eaten anything. Mom was concerned
and after we had taught their family a quick lesson, she asked if we could, in
our prayer, ask a special blessing on her son. At that moment we were able to
talk to her about the power of the priesthood. How it is God's power and that
we would be able to give her son a priesthood blessing. As we did so, the
spirit was felt, mom and baby were at peace and hungry, and we left knowing that the Lord
cares about each and every son or daughter on this Earth. I am so blessed to
have the priesthood in my life, for the knowledge that Heavenly Father will not
leave us comfortless but has given us a duty to bless the lives of others. I am
so grateful for that opportunity.
I have a testimony that missionary work is so special and is
only given to us for a two-year period to be Full-Time missionaries. I
love the Lord and I am grateful for all that he does for me and for my family.
I know that He lives and loves us. I say that in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Love, Elder Shirley
