Week 52...Then There was Four

0ctober 30, 2016

This week has been great! I am enjoying this transfer with Elder Boud and we are really starting to crack down on the area. We are both looking forward to working with our investigators and also other companionship's to really build the Singapore stake up and invite others to come unto Christ. I have come to realize that the Gospel has to be true. That's it. There is simply nothing else that would make me happier than I already am and it continues to make me happy. I am grateful that Spiritual Gifts are real and that they come from a loving Heavenly Father. It is because of spiritual gifts that I have an abiding testimony in the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the Plan of Salvation. I know its true.

This past week Elder Boud and I took some time to reflect on the past transfer to see both our successes and also some things that both of us could work to improve upon. Each of us wanted to help others come unto Christ and see others change with the help of the Atonement. I believe that we are seeing that and I am so grateful for a companion who knows why he is here in the mission field. Although I am his trainer, I feel I have been the one being trained and I can't thank my father in Heaven enough for Elder Boud's level of faith in Jesus Christ. Something that both of us are working to improve is to be doing something every hour of the day so that we are not wasting our time and especially not wasting the Lords time. We know that every opportunity to serve the people here only comes once. There will not be another time like the present so we must use it. Elder Boud has definitely been a source of strength and encouragement and has helped me out a ton. He has really been able to help me break down tasks into simpler tasks and has helped me to see the benefit in doing so. He has really built up my faith in diligence and is definitely an Elder that I admire very deeply.

Miracles happen every day and if I could share and include all of them, I would but I will share with you one that happened last Monday that really touched me. We met with a person named *** *** and her husband **** just a couple weeks ago at a hospital as she was recovering from her cancer. We made a follow up appointment with her to meet with her and her husband. We talked with them about the importance of our Heavenly Father. Now, **** has never prayed much before in his life and upon meeting him the first time he looked as though he would pass the opportunity to listen. As we shared with him about our Heavenly Father, all of the sudden, his face lit up, the Spirit was definitely present and he said the closing prayer at the end of the lesson. It was such a unique experience to see him make that change and feel his spirit connect with the Holy Ghost. Later the next day his wife texts us and said, "Elders, Elders, he prayed for me just before departing to work! I was so happy!" I know that the Lord is always apart of our lives and all we need to do is to recognize that.

Then there was four... I am way pumped up that we had an addition of two sister missionaries to the Ward that we are serving in. It will definitely be a huge improvement and blessing to the people here. We are working with the Sisters right now to help them get started and to really get things moving in the direction that they need to be moving in. We are being fed so we are happy missionaries, we are hoping to get to know the members and to continue to serve them and work with them and help them come even closer unto Christ. Some of our YSA's will be leaving in December fort their missionary service, so we are going to help them get prepared and ready to go.

I know and have a testimony that the work of the Lord is true. I know that as each of us work diligently to be obedient and learn by faith and study that we will be able to gain our inheritance with our Father in Heaven. I am grateful for all missionaries around the world and grateful that we have a living prophet upon the earth today to lead and guide us and help us to know what we must do. I share this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Love, Elder Shirley

The amazing Elder Boud

Week 76..."This past week has been one of faith and might!"

This week, I had the opportunity to watch conference which was an absolute blast! I love hearing from the prophets and apostles speak and offer counsel to those that are seeking it. How grateful I am that our Heavenly Father in this period of time has a prophet upon the earth. I have a testimony that as we heed the words of the prophet and those that are called alongside him, that we will never go astray. This past week has been one of faith and might! I am grateful for the opportunity to come and serve the people of Singapore. It hasn't always been easy but I can honestly say it has been all worth it! A simple principle of faith that I learned from General Conference was what Elder Choi had said saying, "Don't look around, Look up!" I have learned that if all that I do is look around, I can never progress, however, as I continue to steadfastly look up toward heaven, then I find myself changing in so many ways. Axxxxx is awesome! She is something else...

Week 75...Experiences that have increased my faith and built my testimony up this week.

The things you get to learn on a mission are just awesome! I am so glad that I decided to serve the Lord for two years. I would be nowhere close to where I am at right now. I am indeed grateful for the experiences that I have been able to have on my mission and for what they have taught me personally. I know that the Lord, Jesus Christ is very well aware of what I go through and is continuing to lift me up every hour of the day. I know that He lives. His love is real and extends to all who seek it. I wish to share with you some of the experiences that I have had this week that have increased my faith and built my testimony up. Trust in the Lord.  I have really felt the need to say that after the many challenges and trials that seem to be never ending, that I simply can not do it on my own. If I continue to try and do something on my own and just push forward, then I have already failed. I cannot do it on my own. It is sometimes painful to admit that because I feel that in orde...

Week 71...The Sound of Rejoicing

March 5, 2016 Hello! I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is honestly the best thing ever. I know that sometimes it feels like the Gospel can only apply to those that we teach and share with but first and foremost it is to strengthen yourself and give you the confidence and boost of energy that you need throughout the week. I love the Savior Jesus Christ. He is my teacher and exemplar and I look to Him as one of my closest friends and for that I am eternally grateful. This week I have been thinking to myself how I could better help those people that I have been working with feel the power of the Spirit and to continue to be excited to meet again and learn. It was also something that I have been thinking about as we contact other people in Singapore. We do strive to talk with everyone and look for opportunities to serve those around us, however, I have felt that we weren't yielding the same success as weeks prior. Then everything changed!  D&C 28:16 "And thou m...
